The Rapidly Changing World of Fuel Lube Trucks

Today’s fuel lube trucks are a world apart from what it was five years ago. A wide range of specifications are available now for these trucks and fuel lube track manufacturers are vying to provide the best configuration to the trucks.

There is a fast change in the specifications and capabilities as the demand for mobile servicing is increasing in the sector. To make it more economical, contractors are going to the jobsite instead of the equipment coming back into the shop. The presence of dependable fuel lube trucks is of prime importance to counter large number of penalties from not moving dirt due to inability to get fuel to the equipment.

DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF)

Nowadays, arrangements are made for DEF by most of the contractors, whether it is making provisions to take bulk DEF to the jobsite or else filling up the Ford truck. The permanency of DEF means builders of these trucks are adapting to DEF. Now builders are selecting stainless steel and high density plastic for use on DEF bulk transfer trunks and equipment instead of steel and aluminum that is likely to hurt DEF effectiveness.

POWER OPTIONS

Traditionally, fuel lube trucks used to have PTO-driven hydraulics that were meant to run delivery pumps and compressors, but resulted in idling of the truck and having a higher RPM while servicing at the jobsite. Nowadays, the engine idle time is not to be found due to DPF filters and contractors budget. Trucks having air power and compressors have multiple advantages. Also the new chassis of trucks having diesel particulate filters do not support idling.

TELEMATICS

The knowledge of the amount of fuel and oil that a truck is consuming is big savings for the contractor, not to mention the saving on fuel which is a bonus. This is achieved with the incorporation of telematics and electronic fuel controls into fuel and lube body which is rapidly gaining popularity.

The Smartphone and tablets are being widely used on most construction sites. They are used to relay information easily to contractors about the different machines, including fuel lube trucks for sale that are serviced and include location, fuel consumption, tracking of machine utilization, and jobsite data.  The efficiency of data delivery to the Smartphone or tablets has made the job much easier to the service managers.

CUSTOMIZATION

These kinds of industry demands are fulfilled by the truck builders of today, and there will be continuation of the process of product customization for the end user. With the involvement of different activities and their specialization in other parts of the world, contractors’ need also changes, resulting in their need for a fuel lube truck body. Other than telematics, DEP and fuel efficiency, there are also the need for heated lube bodies, larger oil quantities, longer hose reels, and more of fuel.
